An important milestone in the restoration and preservation of our historic church.

We are delighted to announce the successful completion of Phase One of the restoration project at St John's Church in Baxenden.

The recent renovation of the east gable and the roof over the chancel and nave has made the building safe and secure once again. Carried out to a high standard, these essential repairs have addressed urgent structural concerns and will help protect the church from the elements for many years to come.

This work represents an important step towards safeguarding the future of St John's, ensuring that it can continue to serve as both a place of worship and a valued community hub for local people and children's groups.

Preserving Our Church for Future Generations

The completion of Phase One marks a significant milestone in a wider programme of repairs aimed at preserving this historic listed building.

Through careful planning and ongoing investment, we are laying the foundations for future phases of restoration and community development, helping to ensure that St John's remains a welcoming and accessible place for generations to come.

New Oak Entrance Doors

Alongside the restoration work, we are also pleased to announce the installation of new oak entrance doors at St John's Church.

These replace the glass doors damaged during Storm Claudia in November 2025, when wind gusts exceeded 75 mph.

The new doors have strengthened the church's security, improved thermal performance and helped ensure that St John's continues to offer a warm welcome to everyone who visits.

With Heartfelt Thanks

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Benefact Trust, National Churches Trust and The Hobson Charity for their generous grants and support, which have made these vital projects possible.

Their investment in St John's Church is an investment in the wider community. Their generosity is helping to secure a warm, welcoming and sustainable future for the church and the many people who rely upon it.

We are deeply grateful for their partnership and their commitment to preserving places that bring people together.

Together, we are helping to safeguard St John's Church for generations to come.
